Native Plant Data Collection
We have an abundance of seed and native plant material onsite and have struggled to find the right timing to harvest seeds for propagation. Volunteer Tucker Golpariani has brought his technical expertise to the problem and developed a plant logging tool for us that leverages CalScape (California Native Plant Society Database) and allows us to log plants, locations, and stage of seed maturity. This simple tool will help us track native plants onsite and help us not miss a harvest opportunity.
At a recent demo for Fish & Wildlife, we were pleased to hear how this logging application could solve a common problem for many native plant propagators. As a result, we plan to enhance this tool to allow other users and sites to log their plants, locations, and ripening phases.
